Katie Smith

Katie Smith is a fully CIPD qualified Human Resources Manager. Gaining full membership of the CIPD in 2000, Katie has over 18 years HR experience.

For 14 years, Katie has focused on HR management within schools, with most of her experience gained working for Liverpool City Council. Employed initially as HR Adviser, her role focused on working side by side with school managers and governors, offering HR support and advice. Following a promotion, she has been working as HR Manager since 2012, managing a team of 7 School HR Advisers. The team offers HR guidance to over 140 schools in the area. In 2014, the team became School Improvement Liverpool.

Katie’s team covers all aspects of HR within schools and academies. This includes headteacher and leadership recruitment, terms and conditions of employment, employee relations, change management and TUPE. Katie also works with local and regional teacher and support staff union representatives, leading on local negotiations on policy and procedure.

Katie was a founding Member of WPAT when Bruche Primary School converted to academy in 2016.
