Generate's Support for New Teachers Impresses Inspectors in National ‘Deep Dive’
Generate Teaching Hub's support and training for new teachers was put under the spotlight by government inspectors as part of a national review.
Generate Teaching Hub, the professional development and teacher training arm of WPAT, was just one of seven providers around the country chosen to host Ofsted inspectors as they conducted a 'deep dive' of the Early Career Framework (ECF), which it delivers on behalf of education charity Teach First.
The programme was given an outstanding rating by the Ofsted inspectors.
The Early Career Framework is a package of support, training and expert resources for early career teachers (ECTs) in the first two years of their career following qualification. It also includes training and support for mentors, who work with the early career teachers.
Early career teachers, mentors, induction tutors and facilitators from across Halton, Warrington and Wigan provided inspectors with evidence to show the impact and effectiveness of the Teach First ECF programme.
Currently 150 schools access the Teach First ECF training through Generate Teaching Hub. Around 600 teachers are engaging with the programme - 374 ECTs and 228 mentors.
Generate are one of 22 partners delivering the ECF across England to more than 6,700 early career teachers.
The programme was rated outstanding across the board for the quality of its professional development and training, and leadership and management.
The inspection report said: "The Teach First ECF curriculum is meticulously designed to provide trainees with a well-rounded view of highly relevant topics which impact on their teaching.
"Education as a took to eradicate disadvantage and inequality is at the core of everything that Teach First, alongside its delivery partners, achieve."
Deborah Sharples, Head of Generate Teaching Hub, said: "The Ofsted report recognises the importance of working in partnership. As a hub, we have strong partnerships with our school leaders, ECTs, mentors and facilitators which results in teachers being very well supported at the start of their career.
"As a provider of School Based Initial Teacher Training, we have a strong understanding of what teachers need at the beginning of their careers, and this helps us to provide the high-quality support and training they need through the ECF that will help them prosper in their careers."
Generate Teaching Hub has been an ECF Delivery Partner for Teach First since the ECF programme began in 2021.
The hub runs training and support for teachers and leaders in all 292 schools across Warrington, Halton and Wigan and is based at Evelyn Street Primary Academy in Warrington.
