Beamont Primary pupils sing hits with soul icon Heather Small

Pupils from Beamont Primary School in Orford were left feeling ‘proud’ after joining pop icon Heather Small for an unforgettable performance.
A group of 86 excited children from Beamont Primary School travelled over to Manchester’s AO Arena to join a mass choir with the performer and sing her most famous hits.

More than eight thousand children were invited to sing in the event, which was organised by educational programme, Young Voices.

Head teacher at the school, Karen Morris said the children had an ‘amazing’ experience.

“It was amazing day. We left school at lunchtime for the afternoon rehearsal and during a break some of the children took part in a short workshop with The Beatbox Collective who were performers during the concert.”

The Young Voices programme has been running since 1997 and assists young people in using music to develop their own confidence and creativity.

Talented voices from the Orford choir filled the arena as they sang the popular 2000’s hit Proud. The charity single can be purchased here: https://www.youngvoices.co.uk/proud-charity-single

“We were so pleased to see some of our parents and carers there, and hear they had a great time too,” Karen added.

“It was a truly memorable experience for everyone and we’re already looking forward to next year.”
