Warrington MP Andy Carter visits Penketh Primary School

Penketh youngsters who want to make a difference in their community were ‘amazed’ after a visit from Warrington South MP Andy Carter.

Last half term, PSHE lessons for year three at Penketh Primary School focused on ‘what makes a community’ – including a session about democracy.

To tie into this, each child wrote a letter to Mr Cater with suggestions on how to improve the community.

Adam Goodall, year three teacher at the school, said: “The suggestions the children gave blew me away.

“Some were about litter and little things but also about helping those suffering, especially children, in Ukraine.”

The letters were gathered together and sent to Mr Carter which amazed the children – but they were even more amazed when they received a response.

This resulted in a visit from the MP which the class ‘absolutely loved’.

They asked Mr Carter questions such as what his future plans for Warrington are, if the town will be turned into a city and how they can help those in Ukraine.
